FASHION LIVES DOWNTOWN KICKS OFF WITH FASHION'S NIGHT OUT

THE MEATPACKING DISTRICT PRESENTS OVER FIFTY HIGH-PROFILE EVENTS
HOSTED BY NEW YORK'S BEST RETAILERS

WHAT: Fashions Night Out in the Meatpacking District, which we have sub-named---Fashion Lives Downtown is a series of events and cocktail parties, open to the public, featuring special appearances by celebrities, editors, fashion experts, in-store events and special offers at over 50 retail destinations throughout the Meatpacking District. The event is presented by Moët Hennessey USA. Here are some of the major highlights:

Theory: Debut of Theory Fashion Insider: The Remix, featuring a live DJ set by Andrew Wyatt, a founding member and the lead vocalist of Swedish/American trio Miike Snow, and a video “mash up” by artist Philip Ashley. Theory Fashion Insider stylists will also be on hand to remix shoppers' fall looks.

Stella McCartney: Selma Blair hosts the evening’s festivities that features an exhibition of Helena Christensen’s work to benefit the Chernobyl Children’s Project International.

Hugo Boss: Grammy award winning artist, Robin Thicke will perform an acoustic set.

Moschino: Singer, Kelly Rowland hosts Moschino’s fantasy world of surrealism where guests will be photographed in a giant handbag.

Crangi Family Project: Philip Crangi and Costello Tagliapietra shucking oysters.

Tory Burch: DJ Cassidy to spin and Shake Shack on the BBQ.

Diane von Furstenberg: Hosted by Refinery29, the DvF and HP Experience Lounge features cutting-edge fashion installations and a photo booth.

Helmut Lang: Explore the world of Helmut Lang with Creative Directors Nicole & Michael Colovos, along with DJ Harley Viera Newton, a photolab presented by Cobrasnake, spirits provided by East Village's Death & Company and bites catered via Rickshaw's Dumpling Truck.

"HOMECOMING", a week-long pop-up hub for events, programs, performances, socializing and art during New York Fashion Week is a celebration of the city's creative community curated by Dossier Journal with a portrait studio by photographer Dan Martensen sponsored by Vans. "HOMECOMING" is taking over a storefront location on Elizabeth Street in Nolita, one of the most vibrant neighborhoods of Manhattan during one of the most exciting weeks of the year. As New York shifts and changes, the downtown artist community has become more and more fragmented. "HOMECOMING" reclaims the physical space of downtown Manhattan, celebrating the intersection of creativity in the music, fashion, street, art, literature and film scenes, bringing them all together under one roof to capture this specific moment in time.

Throughout the week renowned fashion, portrait and documentary photographer Dan Martensen will operate an old-fashioned style portrait studio that will document the international artists, fashionista's, tastemakers, skaters, locals, athletes and New York icons that fill New York City during fashion week, creating a yearbook time capsule of this moment in New York. The shoots will include both appointments and walk-ins with key players from the fashion, street, art, film and music worlds. The "HOMECOMING" space, designed by acclaimed set designer Peter Klein, will transform daily to accommodate the week's many activities, ranging from smaller, more intimate engagements like lectures to larger live music events and dance parties. "HOMECOMING" will serve as a gathering place during the day, providing a space for people to relax between shows, grab some coffee, hang out and have their picture taken.

Evening Events

"HOMECOMING" will host live performances, readings, panels, parties and art shows all curated by Dossier, a New York based magazine and cultural website. Dossier is the only independent fashion biannual publication presenting fashion in the context of culture, art and literature.

Students from the Savannah College of Art and Design will be doing personal sketches for guests and complimentary cocktails and food will be served throughout the night!
