k2o is created by one of New York's newest designers, Karen Ko. Karen's passion for jewelry began early in her childhood, growing up in her family's fine jewelry business. After studying and working in finance, Karen decided to return to her true passion and earned a degree in jewelry design at the Fashion Institute of Technology and shortly after began creating k2o.

Each k2o piece is hand-made and designed for the modern and trendy woman with an independent edge.

ASIANCE: Tell us about your background. Where did you grow up?

Beijing fashion designer and stylist Nicole Chen of NC.STYLE has been a pioneer in China focusing on helping international fashion brands enter the complex China market via effective PR, event management, brand articulation and consulting. After Ms. Chen’s return to China from her studies and work experience in Japan and the UK in 2002, she introduced fashion styling to Mainland China and acted as a fashion stylist to many celebrities, in cooperation with advertising, media and entertainment companies.

Reshma Saujani is a dedicated community activist, a Yale University legal scholar, and an attorney in New York City. But first and foremost, she is the daughter of political refugees whose story embodies the promise of life in America. Her parents, originally of Indian origin, barely escaped the brutal regime of IdiAmin in Uganda. Forced to flee during the government’s violent persecution of foreigners, her family lost everything. But amnesty in America gave them a chance to rebuild.

Major Ty Nguyen-Reed is the oldest of 4 siblings. With her parents, brother and 2 uncles they escaped by boat to Thailand, onto a refugee camp in the Philippines and then finally to America. Ty grew up appreciating and respecting the opportunities her parents provided them. She grew up in Ft. Worth, Texas. Ty is a Major in the U.S. She's one of a handful of Vietnamese-American female officers. Nguyen-Reed has served the U.S. Army for 9 years and was recently recognized on Oprah for her work as an American soldier.

House Foods teamed up with Dr. Melina Jampolis, CNN diet and nutrition expert and Chef Mai Pham, executive chef and owner of Lemon Grass Restaurant in Sacramento and UC Berkeley’s Star Ginger at Café Three to help UC Berkeley start the semester on a healthy note. At a special campus event titled Boost Your GPA not BMI this Semester, Dr. Melina gave nutrition tips for eating well and avoiding college weight gain while Chef Mai showed students how to lighten up Asian noodle favorites with the delicious low-calorie, House Foods Tofu Shirataki Noodles.
