Nov 6, 2011 @ 03:18 pm hongnguyen19 Hope You Caught Me |
I hope everyone got the chance to see me on the show! If you didn't, there are some videos of the show on Anderson Cooper.
Here's a video of an audience member who says it makes her sick to see IR couples together, particularly Black men and White women and vice versa. Though she feels o about it, she's not wrong for having an opinion. I got to talk with her and understand more of what she had to say backstage.
Here's an IR couple's response. I got to talk with them backstage as well - very nice and funny people:
My part isn't in any of the videos, but all of them are interesting to listen to.
I'm also going to upload an album of pictures, hopefully when my computer stops giving me trouble.
In my next post I'm going to be blogging about the "language barrier" between cultures and me facing a fear I have been avoiding for the past few years in my relationship.
Update
Just started my new job and working on the transition. Haven't forgotten to post about what I said I would be posting - just working on it this week and should be up some time soon!
Also pics from my NYC trip were on my laptop, which is now in the shop for repairs and so editing my pics to make an album on here is prolonged even more now. Hopefully the shop doesn't take too long before these pics become irrelevant :)

(This was all expressed on the show, I am not in any way speaking on behalf of a Black female). But I too hope this becomes less true over time. I honestly don't feel the need to poke and prod at any one person for dating outside of his or her race or saying that the opposite race is "taking" one member of the race from them. If they don't want to date the same race, then they don't have to, they're not betraying anyone. |

Don't know if they'll ever show a rerun either. My part was very brief and I'm assuming that's why they didn't include mine or the Indian woman next to me. I wish they would post entire episodes on their site but they don't. |

Interesting clips. If you are a member of a minority group that feels itself disfavored, then when a member of your group marries outside the group, it feels like a rejection or a betrayal. This is less of an issue for Asian - white couples than for couples in which one member is black. One hopes this will become less true in time.
